Look! New Course dates for Spring 2018!!
Firstly- 'An Introduction to Fused Glass' :
This is a 2 1/2 hour beginners session learning the basics of cutting glass, assembling a piece ready for firing, details of a firing schedule and having some fun along the way. You will be making a tile or coaster of your own design. After the session I will fire it (a 24 hour firing) and it will be available for you to pick up at a later date, hopefully the day after.
I have a large range of coloured glass in stock, and a multitude of materials to accentuate your glass to make it very special and individual.
Please bring an apron (or wear something not too smart!) and wear closed toe shoes.
The cost of the class is to make one coaster or tile but should you want to make more, time permitting, and you are very welcome to, but there will be an extra charge of £10 per item.
Small classes, maximum 4 people, age 14 to 114!
Tues 3rd April 2018, 2 - 4.30pm
Wed 18 April 2018, 6.30 - 9.00pm
Thurs 3 May 2018, 10.30 - 1pm
Sat 19 May 2018, 2- 4.30pm
Secondly- 'An Open session':
Again this is a 2 and a half hour session to do what you would like, size permitting!
This is ideal if you have already been to the beginners session or have previous knowledge of fused glass.
Ideas for this may include making jewellery pieces*; a rainbow slab, which can be left whole or cut up to form other pieces*; small bowls or dishes; hanging decorations etc.
* These ideas may involve a further class/session to complete each firing stage. If you are interested please contact me for a detailed explanation.
A few hours on Pinterest can give you many ideas, sometimes too many (!), or I do have some books for inspiration.
If there is a particular design or method you wish to explore, please phone me to discuss this, to make sure that this is possible.
A huge range of coloured and patterned glass is available to you and you will have the opportunity to experiment with decals, frit, glass papers, glass paints and millefiore should you wish to do so as well.
Everything is fired flat, so if you wanted to turn a flat piece into a bowl, it will have to be slumped into a mold, (fired again), which will incur an extra cost of £5.
If you want to use this class to make jewellery or decorations, you may have to consider an extra session to learn to drill holes into the glass for hanging or attaching jewellery findings to your cabochons (the posh word for your glass bits!).
I have a good stock of sterling silver and silver plated jewellery items ( chains, ear fittings etc.) which may be purchased separately at cost price, but if you have your own then please bring them along.
Tues 10 April 2018, 2- 4.30pm
Wed 25 April 2018, 6.30-9pm
Thurs 10 May 2018, 10.30- 1pm
Sat 26 May 2018, 2 - 4.30pm
If needed, an extra session to finish your pieces will be £30 for 2 1/2 hours.
Important: Please wear closed toe shoes, and bring an apron if you wish.
